ENTRY 1: May 8th to May 9th, 2001
Transportation
On our trip to Japan, we rode in many different
kinds of vehicles. On the morning of, May 7th when we left
our house, we drove in our van to Denver International Airport
(DIA). We parked far away from the airport and had to take
a shuttle bus to get to the airport terminal building. After
checking in our luggage, we took a train to the gate and then
boarded onto the plane. We rode on a 757 and a 777. When we
got to Japan, we rode on a really cool train, the Keisei Skyliner
from the airport to Tokyo's Ueno Station, and from the station
we took a taxi to where we are staying. There were many signs
in English at the airport and all the announcements on the
train were both in Japanese and English. I had to ask my mother
if we were really in Japan because it didn't feel too strange.
I like being in Japan. It was fun to take a bath. In Japan
you do not take a bath to get clean, you have to get clean
first to take a bath and it's fun because you can get water
all over the bathroom floor. They have many different kinds
of potties here. Some have heated seats, some have all kinds
of buttons, and it's hard to figure out which is the one to
flush. When you flush the toilet in our condo, you can see
the water go into the top of the tank and that's where you
can wash your hands, in the water that refills the tank. It
may sound gross, but it's cool and it saves water.
